Bruce and Carrie's Son is the online journal of a young man who is struggling to figure out the world he lives in. It was created in late December 2008 in response to a conversation with the aforementioned young man's heart. She told him to love himself more. He's working on it. This is his heart; in blog form. Enjoy.

Throwback for Pop dukes
My dad mentioned Bill Withers in our ride home together last week, and as half this blog's name is a direct reference to him, I figured I would let my man get some shine.
As a side note: I find the fact that Bill Withers was a stutterer until he was about 28 years old truly fascinating. Never let the mind limit the body.

Do you mean: Never let the body limit the mind?
ReplyDeleteNah, what I was referring to was the social nervousness and fear that often overtakes folks with serious speech impediments. Withers was able to overcome that fear and put himself out there as a recording artist. Though what you are saying is also true, I think the two ideas are in dynamic tension as opposed to conflict.
